Have you been feeling tired lately?

I came across this sign recently and was struck by the words in all caps on a long stretch of road that seemed to never end: IF TIRED STOP/REST


With such an emphasis placed on physical exhaustion and the dangers thereof - how much do we consider the risk to our state of health as a result of emotional exhaustion?


Emotional exhaustion is a state of feeling emotionally worn-out and drained as a result of accumulated stress. When we experience emotional exhaustion, we may often feel like we have no power or control. Poor sleep, lack of energy and decreased motivation can make it difficult to overcome emotional exhaustion. Over time, this chronic feeling of being emotionally fatigued, depleted and 'stressed-out' may lead to compromised mental and emotional health.


Anyone experiencing long-term stress can become emotionally exhausted and overwhelmed. In difficult times, emotional exhaustion may feel as though it has snuck up on you, but it’s never too late to get help.
